Invisible Cities
(2005) 1:15 min.
"Invisible Cities is about displacements and transformations, the general dissolution of the borders between various spheres of life and dream, memory and desire that have deep consequences on the traditional understanding of reality. This psychological landscape registers fluidity and sensuality, while referring to spatial indefinition and to mirrors. Glass spheres reflect windows and evoke the urban scenery of deserted cities.
The marbles rolling on the surface are constantly changing. I use light also as a medium to design space. The spheres engulf other spheres and reflect more empty windows reminding us that very possibly the invisible conditions the
visible.
Objects have already in them selves potential sound. We can think in
architecture as an acoustic vessel that reverberates this sound. My
glass spheres are at the same time objects and architecture. Their
image is reflected on a surface that could be sky or water providing
a very unstable support for these constructions."

"I am motivated by the idea of exploring the individual and collective memory in modern urban society and how through discourse we build ourselves based in a particular culture. Memory, as a cultural device strengthening our sense of self and community, is fundamental to this construction."
