Beside
Between Beside Between frames the intensity of quotidian moments. The work shows the relationship between doubled figures and treats the empty space between them as an active void. The structure of this video is created through the likeness / difference of the movements of the figures and through the relationship of the figure to the edge of the frame and the space between them. As the view becomes progressively closer, the figures, always within the edge of the frame, become impossibly close to each other.
Before
Between A doubled image of a woman appears in short “scenes.” The twin figures stare at each other in seeming conversation, although they do not speak. Caught in moments between action and dialogue, they tensely wait for the conversation to continue. The figure reflects her own image in an internal dialogue that is at times broken with her glances outside of the camera’s frame. The waiting creates a sense of anticipation and anxiety. |
