GIULIA MAINENTI
The works of Giulia Mainenti are based on the confines of perception: perception as communicative force, perception as a divisive factor, a perception that simultaneously unites and offers communication between the inside and outside.
Using various reflections of Gilles Deleuze, Mainenti applies a similar approach to her projects in audio and video – Nitido and successive projects demonstrate this approach as the audio is generated by the video, adopting the practice of reversal and inversion of the terms A/V which become V/A.
Since 2005, Mainenti has began the construction of the an audio-visual archive of material from the former psychiatric hospital in Trieste, Italy.
