SANDRA BOERO-IMWINKELRIED
Sandra Boero-Imwinkelried has been working as a video artist and producer for the last thirteen years. She was born in Argentina, where she earned her degree in Classical Studies at the National University of Cordoba, and studied Film at the same university. She lived in the United States of America for ten years, where she worked as a filmmaker and an artist. There she also earned two masters degrees, one in Filmmaking and another one in Classical Archaeology, in addition to a doctorate in Classical Philology.
In 2004 Boero-Imwinkelried moved from the United States to Havana, Cuba, where she lived for one year. In Cuba, she collaborated with several artists and directed video projects, primarily about Cuban musicians, in addition to working for a Cuban newspaper.
Boero-Imwinkelried has directed several documentaries, mainly on social issues and women. She has also directed many experimental video pieces, and collaborated in independent film projects in different countries. She has shown her works internationally, including countries such as Argentina, the United States, Canada, Cuba, France, Italy, and Germany.
Boero-Imwinkelried's work focuses on the issue of power relationships, addressing politics from a Marxist viewpoint and gender relations inspired by philosopher Luce Irigaray. |
